Mark Cuban says that Bluesky has grown “Ruder and more hateful” and warned that a “lack of diversity of thought” on the platform pushes users to Elon Musk’s X, the social network known as Twitter.
The billionaire entrepreneur and the enthusiast of long -time technology had been one of Bluesky’s most visible champions, but now says that the basis of mainly left -wing platform users has created a hostile chamber where dissident opinions or even slightly nuanced have indignation.
“The lack of diversity of thought here hurts use,” Cuban wrote in a series of critical publications this week.
“There was usually a big one and discussions about politics and news. There is no longer. There should be no way.”
Cuban, the previously owned technology billionaire, which was the owner of Dallas Mavericks of the NBA and recently concluded a long history as one of the investors “sharks” in the reality show “Shark tank”, published a link to a piece of opinion of Washington entitled: “The Bluesky bubble hurts and their causes.
In the piece, the Megan McARDLE columnist argued that the basis of left -wing users on the platform promotes a political silo. Cuban agreed with the evaluation of the piece.
“The moderation and block tools here are so advanced, if you see someone you don’t want to see here, just block -don’t attack them,” he added.
He supported Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election, but did not give his campaign, joined Bluesky in late 2024 and published almost 2,000 times since then.
His first post – “Hello Mind Hatefort World” – set a hopeful tone. But this optimism has faded since then.
“The commitment went from great calls on many topics, to agree with me or you are a Nazi fascist,” Cuban wrote. “We are forcing publications to X.”
He said that even small disagreements are found with a lot of hostility.
“Even if you agree with 95% of what a person says on a topic, if there is a point that you could call as a more gray area, they will tell you fascist, etc.”, Cuban wrote.
According to Bloomberg’s billionaire index, Cuban’s net value is approximately $ 8.35 million.
Some users did not kindly brought Cuban criticism, and made their feelings known in a forceful and often profane language.
In response to his concerns, a user wrote: “Go to clean crocodile tears with a hundredth Wad that people have the idea of” fresh “billionaires.
Another said, “Man if I were as rich as I probably would be less than AP …”, while a third simply said, “F -Kin Leave then, P – Yes.”
Another publication, which also re -published Cuban: “It’s like you, as a billionaire, is a negligible bastard and we want you to stop pushing the IA and the big companies here and only leave.”
Bluesky launched itself as a decentralized alternative to social media and experienced explosive growth after Donald Trump’s Donald Trump’s re -election endorsement at the end of 2024.
Musk Trump’s support triggered an X Exodus, leading millions of liberal users to Bluesky in search of a quieter and ideologically aligned environment.
Between November 2024 and May 2025, the Bluesky users base tripled, from about 10 million to more than 30 million, according to Pew Research Center. This analysis also found that many of the most prominent influential on the platform became politically inclined.
Bluesky’s CEO, Jay Graber, acknowledged the politically migrated migration promoted in an interview with the June 4 podcast with Peter Kafka de Vox.
“It’s the people who want to try something new. It’s the people who find their community here,” he said.
“I think, in general, they are the people who are looking for something and people who seek to move away from something.”
But for Cuban, this community seems to have turned inward. It is now worried that the platform discourages the debate and becomes a digital echo chamber.
The post has sought comments from Bluesky.
