A CNN journalist and his camera crew were detained on television live by Los Angeles police on Monday night, while anti-gel protests continued to drag the city.

“I am detained,” Carroll can be heard by saying that Coates began asking a question to the CNN law analyst in the study.
Coates interrupted Miller abruptly when he heard Carroll.
“Wait a second, John … hold – me. I want – Jason, what happens? I listen to you. I see that Jason Carroll is what happened? Jason?” She asked.
“I’m detained, Laura,” Carroll repeated.
CNN cameras captured an exchange between carriages and officers during which the correspondent sought clarity.
Carroll, who wore a black polo t -shirt and jeans, looks with his hands on his back while reserving two officers.
“I’m not arrested, correct, official?” He asked Carroll.
An officer’s response, though initially not clear for carroll, was direct: “Let’s let go, but you can’t go back … because then if you return, go. OK, please?”
Carroll acknowledged: “OK, thank you, official.”
Then he tried to convey the situation to Coates.
“If you can still hear me, what happened was, I, started, only to be interrupted by an unexpected intervention.
“I’m Chris with the New York Times,” he intercepted a voice.
“We have video of you. If you need it later, call the New York Times.”
It is not clear who Chris is or what is his role at the moment.
The publication has sought clarification of the paper.
Carroll thanked the Times employee, saying, “Thank you, I appreciate it.” He then resumed his account to the CNN audience.
“So it happened here, Laura,” he said, “they called me and the officer told me to put my hands on my back. I said,” Am I arrested? “He said,” You’re detained. “I left the area.
As the Carroll Audio Feed became abruptly cut off, Coates went to Miller for analysis.
Miller, a former NYPD horror head, elaborated the increasing complexities that police are facing during the protests, attributing it to the presence of “anarchist and agitators groups”.
These people, he said, often claim the state of the media.
“Well, I have a blog, so I am therefore a press … so, therefore, although I have been throwing bottles and shouting epithets, I am not part of the protest. I want to be treated as the media,” said Miller.
A CNN spokesman said to The Post: “A CNN report team was briefly detained in Los Angeles as he captured events that were deployed when police tried to erase an area during ongoing protests and the police and military response to the city.”
The network representative added that “we are satisfied with the quickly resolved situation once the informed team presented the application of the law with its CNN credentials.”
“CNN will continue to report the news that is being developed in Los Angeles.”
The publication has sought comments from the LAPD.
The video pictures of the protests also captured the moment when the post Toby Canham photographer was shot on his head with a rubber bullet.
On Sunday, an Australian news correspondent who was covering the events also shot with a rubber bullet while making a live report on the scene.
