Apple admitted that he needs more time to complete his review of Siri’s voice assistant, the last sign that CEO Tim Cook struggles to meet the investors’ innovation demands in artificial intelligence.
The firm of Cupertino, California, revealed on Monday in Bumps in the development of the AI at his world conference of developers, an annual event that used to represent the avant -garde with software engineers, but lately lost the cachet.
“This work needed more time to get to our high quality bar and we hope to share more in the coming year,” said Apple Software Chief, Craig Federighi, about the delays of the Siri AI review.
Apple presented the plans to allow application developers to use the model of great language that feeds their AI systems, called “Apple Intelligence”. Apple also announced a wide review of the design of its newly appeared operating systems called “liquid glass”.
Wedbush’s analyst Dan Ives, a Bull Apple, said that the event showed “slow and constant improvements”, but it was “generally a Yawner.”
“The WWDC presented the vision of the developers, but it was null of any great progress of Apple’s intelligence, as I have been playing safe and close to the vest after the wrong steps last year,” Iives said in a note to the customers.
During the event, Apple presented a “live” translation tool that works for real -time conversations. The company also plans to rename its operating system updates based on the year they are published, instead of the sequential numbers they have used in the past.
Any other place, Apple unveiled a “call screening” where iphones will automatically reply to unknown numbers calls and ask the person calling why they called. The company is also associated with Openai’s Chatgpt to add the generation of images to its “Image Playground” application.
Apple shares decreased more than 1% during the submission of the grade.
“Has there really been an exciting WWDC in the last decade?” X User @mikeyelovich wrote in a post. “This seems like what Chatgpt believes that people want Apple.”
Analysts had widely hoped that this year’s event was bewildering, with minor software improvements, such as a Writing Wizard Fed by AI, who took center stage.
“There is no way to write tools is the first thing of Apple Intelligence that boasts WWDC,” the co -founder of the Marvin von Hagen interaction jokes. “Every time I saw this menu was against my will.”
The company also detailed the improvements to its “Visual Intelligence” application, which allows users to perfectly identify products through their iPhone cameras.
Federighi said that the plan for opening the “Apple Foundation Models” Framework for developers and users would have a transformative effect, allowing them to use an advanced Ai model without even needing internet connection.
“This ignites a new wave of intelligence,” said Federighi, who cited examples such as applications that use the AI model to recommend nearby hiking routes or to create practice exams for students.
Despite the warm reception, Apple is still in an “enviable position given its large installed users base” and still has time to update its rivals, said Paolo Pescatore, an industry analyst and founder of the PP Presight research firm.
Apple is focused on ensuring that their main IA products are ready for the first time instead of risking their fans.
“Although it may seem that others run the AI race, it is not a feature sought for users and there is no increase in revenue, for the moment,” said Pescatore. “Given the negative perception, Apple must carefully step on frustrating and disappoint their faithful base of iPhone users.”
Apple is blocked in fierce competition with rivals such as Google and Sam Altman-Llud Openai, who recently acquired the famous iPhone Jony Ive designer, with the aim of developing his own hardware product specifically for the AI.
